Stress Management for Teens
For teens, stress is often a huge part of our lives. It can be difficult to manage and it can make it hard to control our anger. Here are some things you can do to limit the effects of stress and lead a happier life:
Identify your stressor- Is it school, relationships, family, or something else?
Have a balanced and healthy lifestyle- Eat well, sleep well, and exercise often. (HINT: use our other blogs to help manage this ;))
Manage your time wisely- Make a task list! Prioritize the most important tasks. Set realistic goals in order to achieve them, and break big tasks down into more manageable pieces. Set alarms, and even early “fake” deadlines in order to get everything done on time.
Limit your screen time - Time spent on social media apps can greatly contribute to stress. Even looking at your phone for too long can make you feel more stressed!
Hobbies- Pursue hobbies and things outside of school and work that make you happy! These things are often great de-stressors.
Use relaxation techniques- Meditate, do yoga, and practice mindfulness in your daily life.
If the stress is too much, seek professional help- A therapist is a great person to talk to about your stressors and can help a lot. Therapists can even provide tailored stress management strategies.
Remember to live a hapPEA life, and use these tips to manage your stress!
